A shared dream drives Robert Wilson’s production of Jungle Book, that of a performance for all ages which would be a fable about humanity and an ode to difference. A play that would hold up this unique artist’s genius as a manifesto of what the Théâtre de la Ville champions in terms of productions for all-ages audiences. Of course, nothing that Robert Wilson creates has ever seemed foreign to childhood, but this is probably one of the first times he so directly addresses children. Though Kipling’s novel has been adapted multiple times and his world has enchanted generations of children and adults, here everything is reborn, thanks to the unique vision of Robert Wilson, his art of incredible abstract images, and his collaboration with CocoRosie, whose score illuminates this musical total theater.
